What is a dispatcher and why are they vital for a carrier? A dispatcher coordinates and organizes the movement of vehicles for a fee. I've spoken with a few carriers who have closed their business because they spent too much time on their computer and phone calling for loads, waiting on a response for dispatching a vehicle or didn't have the time to connect with customers regarding pickup and delivery. A carrier has a responsibility to pickup and deliver vehicles, but think about the time and coordination wasted for one load. How are you profiting, if you're not driving? Some carriers might say, I don't have the money for a dispatcher. You're taking a risk on losing your business and gaining profits for a small fee. It's no different than owning a truck without a trailer, how are you able to transport your vehicles?
