According to a report in 2016 from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) http://www.iihs.org/…/large-truc…/fatalityfacts/large-trucks the most deaths in large #truck crashes are passenger vehicle occupants due to truck braking capability along with driver fatigue, therefore the ELD (Eletronic Logging Device) was implemented in 2015 by DOT (Department of Transportation).  In another report dated 1/5/18 by Newsweek Truck Drivers had the highest number of workplace fatalities http://www.newsweek.com/truck-drivers-workplace-fatalities-….  I have been a passenger in an 80ft long car hauler and a 3 car trailer and passenger vehicles have cut off large trucks, stopped short or almost ran up our trailer in their vehicle while a #driver was loading/ unloading vehicles.  How is it only truck drivers are responsible for these accidents?  Recently a tow truck driver was killed on route 287 struck by a passenger vehicle while loading up another vehicle involved in an accident.

What is the IIHS and DOT implementing to protect our truck drivers from passenger vehicles?
